Spring has sprung and gardeners everywhere are devouring seed catalogues and dreaming of dirt. For those of us without the space or inclination to garden, a little succulent or pretty little air plant fits the bill just fine. They take minimal space on shelves, but can have a big impact in the right plant pot. And of course we're going to pick some pretty geeky planters.
I found all of following planters on Etsy, and two things are important to note:
- They are handmade by craftspeople and artisans
- They are not tacky and are perfect for industrial, eclectic, and modern decors
This artist makes adorably quirky ceramic pots. She has a variety of designs, but I zeroed right in on the robot-like figures. If wonky pots, rainbows and utterly unique designs are more your thing, check out all her pots. The artist is based in the UK and ships to the U.S. We'll be visiting her shop again in the future.
From afar it make take people a minute to realize this cool little planter is actually the Death Star. Which is often the point of geekorating - conversation pieces that don't scream in your face. This planter is made of plaster, hand painted, and actually comes with an air plant and growing instructions. Perfect. This is a high rated shop with an entire section devoted to pop culture.
This maker turned old stuff into this awesome, original, antiqued robot that's perfect for industrial modern decor. It comes with a fake succulent plant but you can put a real one in there. Honestly, it made me squee a bit, it's so cute.
These handmade, concrete Mario planters are all kinds of fun. I want to put them out on my little table on my balcony and smile at them all summer long.
